Find your perfect Greek island with Netferry!
Netferry wants to recommend a few of our favourite Greek islands according to the type of traveller you are! A holiday in Greece is always a great option, but it's sometimes difficult to know which island to choose from!
Let's start with Kefalonia in the Ionian Sea, just west of mainland Greece, it is a popular island because of its beautiful beaches. Kefalonia is also famous for its good food and wines, including Mavrodafni, Rombola and Mosxato, just to name a few! The island has a long tradition of wine production and grape cultivation, they produce ruby red wines with a sweet and fruity flavour.
For travellers looking for history and culture, Delos, in the Cyclades, is the island for you. It is small and quiet and is home to plenty of ancient archaeology and Greek architecture. Delos is also designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you can explore the remains of Greek temples, mosaics and statues. On Delos, Apollo is the most revered god and legend has it that Apollo’s mother, Artemis, took refuge on the island and gave birth here.
For nature lovers, we recommend the island of Hydra. This little jewel in the Saronic Gulf has some architectural gems and a natural amphitheatre on the slopes near the harbour! There are no vehicles on the island and you can ride horses instead!
If you’re looking for some romance then Symi is the island for you! It is situated in the Dodecanese archipelago and the landscape and sea are breathtakingly beautiful. You just have to stroll through the beautiful narrow streets to soak up the tranquillity and peace here. There are also plenty of lovely little shops and boutiques. Boat trips on Symi are highly recommended to ensure you reach the most deserted beaches as the island has some of the best in the Mediterranean.
