Katapola is a resort on the north coast of the island of Amorgos, it is the main landing point on the island and the largest tourist center, it is full of restaurants and hotels.
Places to visit
Be sure to take a walk along the promenade when the sun is down to see the taverns all lit up to create a traditional Greek atmosphere. Near the port there are many cafes to stop in for some local music, a sip of ouzo and some pistachios. Above the port there was an ancient village called Minoa, which according to legend was the place where Minos spent the summer. You can walk for about forty minutes and discover the ancient remains of the first settlements on the island.
Beaches
Maltezi and Plakes are two beaches not to be missed on Katapola. Maltezi has crystal clear water and a sandy beach, you can also rent deckchairs and umbrellas. Plakes is a rocky beach, from which you can dive into the clear blue waters.
